Musselman's #AppleSauceInstead and A Giveaway!

It's March! How are those New Year resolutions working for ya? I confessed a couple months ago that I don't make resolutions because I'm bound to break them, however I still care about my health and what I eat. I gained weight while pregnant then dropped 35 pounds after Hayden was born. Slowly, that weight has been creeping back on and it's frustrating.  I'm not a runner and I don't have a gym membership and I was not blessed with a teenage boys' metabolism, however I can still make smart decisions about the way I snack and that's where Musselman's applesauce comes in.

I was sent 3 varieties of Musselman's applesauce (Original, Natural and Cinnamon) as part of their #ApplesauceInstead campaign. All you have to do is swap a snack for a cup of Musselman's applesauce- that's it! I'm not a big snacker but I do eat chips with sandwiches for lunch and I like my dessert. I'm trying to be healthier about my decisions and reach for applesauce instead. Mr. H has been packing it in his lunch and Hayden loves it too! The Natural applesauce only has 50 calories 4 oz. and the Original and Cinnamon (my favorite!) only has 90. It's naturally fat and cholesterol free and is very low in sodium.

Along with my applesauce, I also received a Musselman's branded yoga ball. That thing is so fun! I have to be honest though and tell you I fell off several times and laughed along the way but you just gotta get back up and try again, right? Hayden likes to bounce on it too. So as the year progresses, rather than obsess about my weight I'll just think twice about grabbing the Cheetos or the Oreos and choose #AppleSauceInstead.

Would you like to win a Musselman's prize pack? One winner will be chosen at random and will receive 3 varieties of applesauce along with a yoga ball.

All you have to do is leave me a comment and tell me what you'll replace with Musselman's applesauce. One winner will be chosen at the end of the week.

Visit Musselman's on Facebook for more info about healthy snacking.

I'd replace Cheez-It's with the Musselman's Applesauce. I love applesauce, but I just never think about eating it! Why is that?
Nice giveaway!

We love applesauce at our house...the kids eat it for snacks and it is stirred into oatmeal and yogurt instead of other sweeteners. I don't often serve it 'instead' of something at a meal, because I think of it for the kids and not all of us. I think I'd serve it instead of rolls or breadsticks at a meal (like with soup) and see how we all feel about it!

Thanks,
Heather

My kids love applesauce and I'll only buy the natural, no sugar variety so we'd love this! I could definitely stand to replace my dessert kick with some applesauce!

I love to add it as a sweetener to lots of things.....ditto on the oatmeal like Heather. Also replace the oil in my "light" cupcakes. It's hard to stay on track with my "eating" plan and applesauce is just perfect for my morning pick me up as a snack to keep me going.

I like applesauce but never really thought about it as a diet food. It's worth a try and I would replace chips with applesauce.

Chips are my biggest weakness (next to soda, but I've pretty much given that up). So for me, the applesauce would replace chips.

i love rice pudding sometimes - it's an occasional treat, but the calories aren't anywhere CLOSE to the applesauce!

Although I can't promises that apple sauce will completely replace this indulgence it would definitely help some of the time (wink).

I would replace a slice of cake or some cookies. I snack only on homemade sweets, so applesauce would be a great substitution.

P.S. Wish we could work out together :)!

I often use applesauce as a side dish - so I replace something extra starchy with something healthy. Your sweet boy is getting so big!

Moo-Mom said...

I love applesauce! We usually have it with meals as a fruit component to our meals, I never really thought of grabbing it as a snack though, I don't know why I didn't!?!?!? I would try to reach for applesauce instead of a handful of M&M's! ♥

Danni N said...

It would actually replace a variety of things; it would basically be what I'd choose instead of other easy snacks...cookies, crackers, chips, ice cream, whatever!!!

I substitute applesauce all the time for oil and butter in cake and muffin recipes. You really can't tell the difference!

I'd replace a side dish with applesauce. I've actually been doing that more lately - mostly on Fridays during Lent, when I'm making something meatless for a main dish anyway. Pancakes or omelets with a side of applesauce is really tasty and filling!

Oh, and that yoga ball sounds fun. I use them at the gym and love them.

I replace sugar with it, often. I use applesauce in oatmeal and pancakes and other baked goods. I often serve it as a side for the kids. I also really love it mixed with cottage cheese for the perfect mix of protein/carb!

I like using applesauce instead of oil in muffins, but sometimes (like this morning) I forget, so this is a good reminder! I should definitely replace some ice cream indulgences with applesauce when I am wishing for something cold and sweet!!

Hi, I would replace my nightly little dessert item (it varies daily!) with the applesauce. *this happens to be my daughter's favorite brand of it

Also, I have a blog www.cookandburn.com dedicated to sharing my workout routines (that can be done in home) and making healthy meals for my family of 6, if you'd like to check it out. I had gained 70lbs with my pregnancy and it took 3 years to get off my butt and do something about it. I've been maintaining my weight loss for over 5 years now.

Thanks!

I replace some of the oil in granola with applesauce. this way I use maybe 2 T of oil and less sugar in my granola. love it in yogurt too.

I would replace ice cream for Musselman's Apple Sauce because I could freeze it and have a delicious, nutritious treat instead of fatty ice cream that I would regret having later on.

Beachwalk83 said...

I reach for cheese in the fridge when I snack. Certainly, Musselman's Apple Sauce (I've had the cinnamon and love it) would be healthier! I've gotta start eating better--but sometimes it's so expensive to buy the individual servings/calorie controlled foods. Need to turn my head around and feel I'm worth spending a little extra on! Thanks for this opportunity!
